Andy Cohen Defends RHOC Casting Approach Amid Criticism Over 'MAGA' Cast Members
Andy Cohen responded to a fan who said they stopped watching The Real Housewives of Orange County because of the show's politically conservative cast members. Cohen defended the franchise's approach to casting, arguing that the series focuses on the women's relationships rather than their individual politics.
The issue came up after a Threads user asked why so many cast members identified as MAGA supporters, prompting Cohen to explain his perspective. He noted that the show needs to feature women with diverse viewpoints, allowing viewers to engage with different perspectives.
When discussing whether Bravo personalities would make effective politicians, Cohen pointed out that few reality stars have had success in elected offices. "So far the track record for reality stars running for office is TERRIBLE," he said.
Few people are more knowledgeable about such questions given his years working behind the scenes on the Housewives franchise. His comments were made in response to a single critic on Threads.
It was revealed last week that Andy Cohen's boyfriend has little interest in the shows that made him famous. Kevin Sobieski, 42, hasn't watched any episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County or other Bravo programs. Despite having access through Andy's algorithms, he still lacks awareness of the subject matter.
