Comedian Amy Schumer and her estranged husband, Chris Fischer, are one step closer to becoming officially single again. The comedian, 45, and the chef, 46, have reached an agreement in their divorce nine months after filing to end their marriage, according to Us.

The exes submitted their proposed divorce judgment to a New York court on Thursday, September 24. This development comes nearly one year after Schumer announced her separation from Fischer through Instagram in December 2025. In her post, she captioned, "Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after seven years." She added, "We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time."

This announcement followed speculation surrounding their marriage's status, sparked by Schumer posting a photo without her wedding ring in November 2025. At the time, she seemingly shut down the rumors by explaining via Instagram, "I never wear jewelry." However, she also acknowledged that changes were happening in her life, stating, "Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism," referring to her body transformation and Fischer's diagnosis.

Despite her previously optimistic message, Schumer confirmed her separation from Fischer in her subsequent Instagram post. The couple got married in February 2018 and went on to welcome son Gene in May 2019. Since then, there hasn't been any significant public dispute between them regarding the reasons behind their separation.

According to their marriage ultimately "lost its spark" over time. An insider revealed, "There wasn’t some big, scandalous catalyst for their split. It just happened slowly over time, and they agreed their relationship was no longer what it once was." Another source emphasized that the pair worked out the logistics of their separation carefully, especially when it came to their son's well-being: "The goal is to make it as smooth of a transition as possible so as not to disturb their son’s day-to-day. One of the many things they see eye to eye on is Gene and his happiness coming first."

Schumer's separation had initially seemed challenging, but according to sources, the adjustment period has been relatively easy for her. The insider stated, "For Schumer, the separation had been an easy adjustment so far, with her being in a good place and even jokes" about the situation.

In January, Us confirmed that Schumer filed for divorce from Fischer with the New York County Supreme Court. According to documents obtained by Us, the case was listed as "matrimonial — uncontested." This means that both parties agree on all terms related to property division, spousal support, and child custody.

While details of their proposed divorce agreement are still pending processing by a county clerk, the fact remains that Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer are moving forward with their lives separately.
