Will Smith Could Become Involved in Ex-Friend Bilaal Salaam’s Lawsuit Against His Wife Jada Pinkett Smith

A pending request could soon entangle Will Smith in his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s ongoing lawsuit against their ex-friend Bilaal Salaam. Court documents show that Salaam has asked the court to make Will a co-defendant in his case against Jada.

Salaam initially filed suit alleging that Jada harassed him after he refused to assist Will with handling the fallout from the 2022 Oscars incident, in which Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock during a live performance. The dispute reportedly strained relationships within the group, especially when Jada learned that Salaam planned to write a memoir containing private information about the couple and their family.

Judge previously dismissed several of Salaam’s claims, but the latest filing seeks to revisit his amended complaint. If granted, the addition of Will Smith as a defendant could significantly expand the scope of the lawsuit, drawing another prominent public figure into its orbit.

In related matters, Salaam is currently facing separate financial issues tied to the case; Jada was awarded approximately $32,000 in legal fees, and she is seeking reimbursement from Salaam. He has requested either a reduction in the fee amount or permission to pay it off through installments due to alleged financial hardship.
