RHOC Star Jeana Keough Has '40 to 60 Percent Chance' of Fully Healing From Tongue Cancer Within Five Years

Real Housewives of Orange County alum Jeana Keough has finished her chemotherapy sessions for tongue cancer. According to her daughter, Kara Keough, Jeana is now recovering at home.

Kara, 37, shared an update on Jeana's GoFundMe page: "Jeana is home and recovering. She's done with chemo and only has 2 days of radiation left! After next week's treatment, she'll be able to start recovering." Despite her progress, Kara noted that her mother continues to experience significant health issues.

Jeana, 70, remains unable to speak or swallow properly and relies on text messages to communicate. To aid her recovery, Kara estimates that Jeana will require a feeding tube for two to six months. This prolonged treatment period comes with uncertain outcomes, with Kara acknowledging a "low probability" of total recovery.

The prognosis is further complicated by a less-than-favorable chance of complete healing. There is approximately a 40-60% likelihood of Jeana making a full recovery within the next five years, despite undergoing intensive treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy.

The cancer diagnosis was revealed through an investigation prompted by Jeana's mention of a painful spot on her tongue while visiting her family in Florida. A biopsy later confirmed the presence of squamous cell carcinoma.

As documented viewers might remember, Jeana gained fame after appearing on RHOC from 2006 to 2010 alongside her daughters. Given her current situation, a potential return to reality TV appears unlikely anytime soon. In a previous statement, Kara stated that prioritizing her mother's health takes precedence over any other consideration, emphasizing, "I would give her anything that she wants. If that would make her happy, I would agree to it because I'll do anything for her."
