Michelle Rodriguez Reveals Her Biggest Reservation About Joining 'Fast & Furious'

Michelle Rodriguez has appeared in several major films throughout her long career, but Fast & Furious, which came during the early days of her career, remains the role fans recognize her for. Now, the actress has revealed her biggest reservation about joining the franchise.

Recently, Rodriguez attended the film's 25th anniversary screening at the Directors' Village Theater, where she spoke about how moving from an indie film to the set of Fast & Furious was a culture shock. According to Rodriguez, her Jehovah's Witness background made the experience particularly challenging. "I came from a Jehovah’s Witness background at the time. So it's like none of this really means anything to me. And so you’re dealing with a kid who’s not affected. I’m already playing in the so-called devil’s world in my mind as a 20-year-old, obviously."

Rodriguez also discussed how Vin Diesel played an important role in her casting. "I was just getting introduced to what it is to be an actor in New York, and then I think Vin had seen Girlfight and he really liked the character and wanted that character to be his girlfriend in Fast."

As for her involvement in the franchise, Rodriguez remained ambiguous on whether or not she truly cared about the series. However, she did mention that the financial prospects were attractive, stating she would make "more than I was making before." Despite initial hesitation, Rodriguez seemed genuinely thrilled by certain experiences on set, such as performing stunts and driving high-speed vehicles - activities previously restricted by her faith.

With the release of Fast & Furious 11 on the horizon, it appears that Michelle Rodriguez will continue to be involved with the franchise.
