Real Housewives of Atlanta alum NeNe Leakes is sharing details about her recent conversation with former castmate Kim Zolciak amid the scandal surrounding Zolciak's son Kroy "KJ" Biermann Jr.'s arrest. In a September 11 appearance on the Big Tigger Morning Show, Leakes, 58, revealed that she had spoken to Zolciak last week.

"I recently spoke to Kim, I think it was last week," Leakes said. She explained that she wanted to check in on Zolciak after hearing about her son's arrest and allegations of sexual assault against a minor female relative. "I just hit her up, wanting to know how she's doing, congratulating her on Brielle and making sure she was okay with what her son is dealing with — I know that's a tough time and I know she's not okay."

Zolciak's 15-year-old son KJ was arrested in August on aggravated sexual assault and aggravated sodomy charges over an alleged incident at a local gym. He was subsequently indicted on multiple counts related to child molestation, sexual battery, and false imprisonment.

In response to the allegations, Zolciak released a statement through Us Weekly on August 21, saying, "The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling.He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged." Zolciak also stated that her son voluntarily took a polygraph examination, which he passed, and no DNA belonging to him was found.

Following KJ's arrest, investigators discovered disturbing footage on his phone showing him engaging in sexual activity with an unidentified family member under the age of 12. Prosecutors claim they found evidence of "multiple encounters" where KJ used "predatory derogatory" language toward the victim.

Leakes' conversation with Zolciak comes as she updates fans on her relationships with her former costars from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. When asked about her current friendships, Leakes clarified her status with each woman: "I'm cool with Kim. Friend? You know, when you say the word friend, that's just a serious word to me so that's just… Friend? No. Associates? Yes."

She continued, "If I need to call Porsha , K. Michelle, any of them on the show they all will answer. I don't have no beef with them to the level that they won't answer my call. Girls from the past, If I called Shereé right now she would answer. Damn if I called Kandi she would answer. I don't have enough beef with them where they're just not going to answer my call."

The case against KJ Biermann Jr. remains ongoing.
