According to a joint Instagram statement posted by the couple on September 8, the decision to end their engagement followed "several conversations" rather than a single incident. The statement read:

"After a lot of honest conversations and reflection, we've made the difficult decision to end our engagement and go our separate ways."

The pair emphasized that there wasn't one specific moment that led to their breakup, saying "there wasn't one moment that brought us here." Despite their decision to part ways, Edwards and Conley expressed gratitude for the memories and experiences they shared over the past year and a half.

"We'll always have so much love and respect for each other and for what we shared," they wrote. "We're moving forward with grateful hearts, genuinely wanting nothing but happiness for one another."

Their breakup comes just months after discussing possible wedding plans on the Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast in February. At the time, Conley mentioned having already chosen potential groomsmen, including his three brothers and close friends, while Edwards planned to select bridesmaids from friends and cousins. The couple also considered hosting their ceremony in Tennessee and exploring non-traditional roles, such as swapping sides for the exchange of vows.

In September 2025, Edwards revealed they didn't want to rush into planning, stating "we don't like to put super strict timelines on things." This mindset seemed to shape their approach to wedding planning, with the couple taking a more laid-back approach to organizing their big day.
