Charles Oakley never expected to join The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) with his wife, Angela Oakley. In a recent interview with BET Networks' Who Are You Behind The Game? podcast, Oakley shared his thoughts on being part of the popular reality TV show.

According to Oakley, producers had been pursuing the couple for several years before Angela decided to pursue the opportunity. "They've been chasing us for some years," Oakley explained. The couple initially refused, but eventually agreed to meet with producers three or four times. "So I pulled a straw out of the broom; we went to meet them," Oakley recalled.

Producers ultimately chose Angela for the show, and Oakley admitted that reality television was never something he imagined doing. "It's not my feel, but I let her just go and do her thing," he said. Oakley has appeared alongside Angela during the show's last two seasons, including Seasons 16 and 17.

Oakley acknowledged that RHOA can become emotionally demanding, particularly for his wife. "Sometimes my wife gets drained; it's a draining show," he said. He added that he tries to help Angela work through those difficult moments. "But I work it out with her," he continued.

Interestingly, Oakley noted an unexpected reaction from male viewers. "It's a female show, but now, since I've been on for a couple of years," he said. Oakley claimed men often tell him they enjoy seeing him on the series. "All these guys, the wife: 'Oh, my husband won't; he never watching,'" he recalled. However, those husbands reportedly became interested after noticing Oakley. "But he heard you was on it; he can't wait till Sunday come around," Oakley said.

Their relationship had also faced challenges outside reality television. The couple married in 2016 after reconnecting years after their first meeting. Angela previously discussed their temporary separation and eventual reconciliation. For Charles, RHOA remains outside his usual world. Still, he continues supporting Angela while she navigates the demands of reality television.

As the couple completes another season of RHOA, Oakley's comments offer insight into the pressures and challenges of participating in the show. While Oakley may not be a fan of reality TV, his support for Angela is evident as she continues to navigate the demands of the show.
