Mia Calabrese Disputes Being Labeled 'Aggressive' After Summer House Reunion

Mia Calabrese pushed back against how her behavior at the Summer House reunion was characterized. She said someone called her aggressive after she asked direct questions. Calabrese questioned why her behavior received that label.

Calabrese discussed the moment during Marie Claire's conversation about Black women on Bravo. She declined to identify the person who called her aggressive and said she had asked uncomfortable, direct questions during the reunion. “Being direct, does it make someone aggressive?” Calabrese asked. She said directness made her feel sure of herself. “We cannot confuse those two,” she added.

Calabrese defended asking difficult questions during the Summer House reunion. She said hard questions matter because people need answers and described her approach as necessary rather than aggressive. Typically, Calabrese kept her voice down during tense conversations. “There’s not an aggressive bone in my body,” she said.

She also mentioned that a white man made the comment that labeled her aggressive for one of the first times in her life. However, she compared her behavior with that of her white friends onstage during the same reunion and found that they had reacted more aggressively. According to Calabrese, the same man never used the label for her white friends. “Those words never came out of his mouth about them,” she said.

The comparison highlighted the contrast in treatment between Calabrese and others, particularly Black women, on reality television. Calabrese acknowledged this disparity by saying, “We can do it, but we just know the backlog is going to be very different.” She emphasized remaining authentic despite potential criticism. Castmate Jasmine Goode supported Calabrese's perspective, noting that other members behaved recklessly but faced no similar backlash.

This incident contributes to a broader issue on reality TV: how people perceive Black women.
