The latest episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC) sparked controversy among the cast members after Vicki Gunvalson made some harsh comments about Carmella Garcia's parenting. In the September 24 episode of the RHOC: After Show, Shannon Beador expressed her disapproval of Vicki's statements, calling them "beyond cruel."

Shannon questioned Vicki's intentions, stating, "Vicki, sometimes your words can be really harsh. Do you know that?" She further emphasized that making such statements about someone's motherhood is an incredible insult, adding, "It's just beyond cruel. Cruel." This comment highlights the depth of tension between Shannon and Vicki, which has been building up throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Emily Simpson took issue with Vicki's assertion that Carmella was not taking care of her children, saying that parental judgment is the worst kind of criticism. Emily recalled a past incident in which Vicki had made similar comments during a sit-down conversation. According to Emily, Vicki received a "spanking" from the other housewives for her behavior, but still seemed unfazed by her actions. Emily concluded, "Just because a woman has someone else help when you're away doing something doesn't mean that you're not taking care of your kids. That's the worst thing. I hate it when people say stuff like that."

Gina Kirschenheiter also chimed in, pointing out that Carmella had shared her struggles with forgiving Danny Hampel, who is involved with both Carmella and Vicki's business partner, Gina noted that Carmella's children are older and sometimes need to be taken care of by others, especially given their parent's busy schedules. Gina stated, "First of all, her children are older. It's a normal thing for you to sometimes have to be away from your children."

Vicki attempted to defend herself against these criticisms, suggesting that she did not recall ever saying that Danny was raising Carmella's children for her. However, she still maintained that Carmella was not present in her children's lives due to her absence. Vicki said, "She's got a 14-year-old. There's no way I'm leaving my 14-year-old. But Danny is there, so she feels comfortable with that, and I'm glad for that."

However, this statement only fueled more anger within the cast, particularly among those close to Carmella. Jennifer Pedranti sarcastically pointed out that she too had left her children at home while on a group trip to Vegas, and that Ryan had taken care of them.
