Hannah Berner Credits Firing from Summer House With Sparking Comedy Career

After leaving Bravo's _Summer House_ following three seasons, Hannah Berner reflected on her departure, saying it lit a fire under her to pursue a full-time career as a stand-up comedian. She credited the firing, which occurred in 2021, with giving her the push she needed to succeed in the entertainment industry.

Producers had reportedly told Berner she was "too much for reality TV," a decision that motivated her to explore alternative paths in entertainment. Her experiences on _Summer House_ taught her valuable lessons, including the fact that few individuals attempt to transition to new careers after appearing on reality TV shows, citing the limitations set by such platforms.

In a conversation, Berner acknowledged the value she gained from her time on _Summer House_. However, it was the termination that marked a significant turning point, sparking a newfound desire to focus on comedy. According to Berner, getting fired equated to gaining "star power".

She went on to explain that this insight inspired her to start exploring opportunities beyond traditional reality TV fare. Specifically, she noted the disparity between comedians who work on reality shows versus those who achieve success through their own comedic work, notably referencing the difficulty of securing a Netflix special while still associated with reality TV.

Her path forward became clear when Berner decided not just to become a stand-up comedian but also began co-hosting podcasts, teaming up with fellow Summer House alumnus Paige DeSorbo for the popular Giggly Squad podcast.

Berner has since released multiple projects, including two successful Netflix comedy specials. Now based on her past statements, it appears Berner's decision to leave _Summer House_ ultimately led her to find greater fulfillment in her chosen field.
