Woman Arrested After Allegedly Ramming Car Into Husband Outside Courthouse

A 32-year-old woman from Crown Point, Indiana, faces charges including attempted murder after allegedly driving her car into her husband and stabbing him outside a courthouse following a divorce hearing.

On Monday, Adriana Cisneros-Velazquez, 32, crashed her Honda into her husband, who was on a motorcycle, in the parking lot of the Lake County Government Center in Crown Point. Witnesses reported that the husband flew in the air after being struck by the car.

Cisneros-Velazquez then dragged her husband with her car for a brief time before losing control and crashing the vehicle. He managed to free himself from under the car. An affidavit filed by authorities confirms that the couple had attended a divorce hearing earlier that day.

After abandoning the wreckage, Cisneros-Velazquez exited the car and stabbed her husband in the arm with a knife. A bystander intervened to halt the attack.

According to investigators, Cisneros-Velazquez's husband told them he acted in self-defense against his wife during their confrontation. Surveillance cameras captured some of the violence unfolding.

Both individuals received medical treatment at local hospitals. However, neither has spoken publicly about the event.

Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. noted that it appears the couple's disagreement began over the outcome of their divorce proceeding.

Currently, Cisneros-Velazquez remains incarcerated without bond while awaiting trial. She faces several charges connected to the incident, including two counts of attempted aggravated battery and domestic battery. Further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the assault remain unclear.
