Former Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor is taking additional steps to move on amid his contentious divorce from estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. According to court documents obtained by Us on Tuesday, October 13, Taylor's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is asking a judge to declare the reality TV star legally single while he still works out a global divorce settlement that covers financial, property, and support issues.

Court documents state that Taylor "respectfully requests that this court grant his request for a bifurcated judgment on marital status only." The documents further explain that it is clear the marriage is beyond repair, and no one will benefit by keeping the parties bound to each other as husband and wife. Additionally, Taylor wants the freedom to move forward with his life as a single person, assuming Cartwright would also like the same opportunity.

Taylor's attorney argues that the reality star is "well within his rights to seek an immediate dissolution of marital status." The attorney claims nearly two years have passed since the case commenced, with minimal case progression and no set trial date. This has left Taylor without a clear path toward resolution, prompting him to seek an alternate route to divorce.

According to the court documents, Taylor respectfully requests that the court grant his request for order in its entirety and declare him legally divorced from Cartwright. The documents emphasize that there is no dispute regarding the end of their marriage. Taylor reiterates his desire to move forward, stating, "There is no dispute that our marriage is over. I desire to be divorced now. I would like to move on with my life and to do so as an unmarried person."

This development comes after the couple filed for divorce in 2024, following five years of marriage. They share a 5-year-old son, Cruz. A source previously told Us in July that Cartwright remains committed to reaching a fair resolution, especially concerning their child.

Since his split from Cartwright, Taylor has moved on by dating his former publicist, Lori Krebs. In an interview with entertainment outlets in August, Taylor expressed happiness about his new relationship, saying, "I love to death. You can't help who you fall in love with. Everybody deserves to find happiness." He added, "I'm in the happiest place I've ever been, and I couldn't be happier right now. My mental health has been so amazing since I've been with her."

The ongoing divorce proceedings between Taylor and Cartwright remain unsettled, with no clear resolution in sight. As the court continues to work through the details, Taylor's request to be declared legally single adds another layer to the complex situation.
